The Women Behind the Magic at The Lageret Wedding Venue

Step inside The Lageret and meet the women behind the magic. Discover how Jamae and Alison bring each wedding to life through thoughtful design, seamless collaboration, and an unforgettable experience from beginning to end.

There’s a moment, just before a wedding begins, when everything is in place.

The candles are lit. The florals are layered just so. The space feels calm, welcoming—like it’s always been meant for this day.

And behind it all is a creative vision—brought to life by Jamae, with the support of a team that knows exactly how to execute every detail.

At The Lageret, that magic begins with Jamae’s design eye and is carried through by those who help bring each celebration to life—including Alison, whose steady presence and creativity play an important role behind the scenes.

A Creative Working Relationship That Just Clicks

Jamae and Alison’s working relationship didn’t begin in a formal setting—it grew naturally, rooted in friendship, community, and a shared creative instinct.

They start their days not with logistics, but with life—family, stories, the realities of a busy season. And then, seamlessly, they shift into the details that bring weddings to life.

There’s an ease between them that can’t be taught.

As Jamae describes it:

“She’s one of the few who truly understands my thought process—no overexplaining needed. Sometimes all it takes is a nod or a ‘yep.’”

Alison describes it as something even deeper:

“We have a similar visual language and taste—and have developed a design shorthand that verges on the telepathic.”

It’s this unspoken understanding that allows them to move quickly and intuitively—supporting Jamae’s vision and bringing ideas to life with ease.

How It All Came Together

Their partnership began long before The Lageret—rooted in shared community, creativity, and a moment of unexpected recognition.

Alison’s background is rooted in art and illustration, something that quietly shaped her creative instincts long before she stepped into the world of events. During the pandemic, she began designing window displays for local Main Street businesses—one of which caught Jamae’s attention.

It wasn’t just the design—it was the execution.

Jamae tracked down who had created a striking installation of birch trees, impressed that something so intricate could feel both immersive and completely at ease within the space. It led her back to someone she already knew—a fellow school mom, neighbor, and, as it turned out, a kindred creative spirit.

A few months later, a casual conversation turned into an opportunity.

“She asked if I wanted a job… and I never left.”

It’s a working relationship that feels as natural as it is intentional—something couples benefit from without ever needing to see the moving parts behind it.

From Vision to Reality

For couples, the process often begins with just a few words—or a simple idea.

From there, Jamae begins shaping the vision—guiding the design and overall feel of the day.

With the support of her team, those early ideas are transformed into something tangible, layered, and immersive. “We can take a simple sketch and a few words and turn it into a couple’s complete vision.”

That collaboration is what makes the experience feel seamless—not just for them, but for the couples they serve.

Behind the scenes, Alison plays a key role in keeping everything moving—managing inventory, installations, structure, and timing—while Jamae leads the overall design direction and floral vision.

As Jamae describes it:

“She manages everything—glassware, table scales, structures… she is amazingly resourceful.”

No two days at The Lageret look the same—and that’s exactly what makes the work so dynamic.

One day might be spent behind the scenes—responding to emails, guiding couples through planning details, refining timelines and bar packages. The next could look entirely different: hanging dozens of blooms and candles from the ceremony beams, painting a staircase, or reworking a space to bring a new vision to life.

As Alison says:

“Every day is truly different… just the way I like it.”

Designing an Experience, Not Just a Space

What sets The Lageret apart isn’t just the beauty of the building—it’s how that space is brought to life.

With its exposed brick, historic timbers, and expansive layout, the venue allows for a natural flow from one moment to the next—without interruption.

What makes that experience even more seamless is the presence of an on-site floral studio.

With an on-site floral studio, the design stays fully in Jamae’s hands—created right here within the space, rather than handed off or interpreted elsewhere.

Having spent years designing weddings before becoming the steward of The Lageret, Jamae brings a rare perspective—one that blends floral artistry with an intimate understanding of how a space should feel, flow, and evolve throughout the day.

Jamae bringing a ceremony installation to life—designing not just florals, but how the entire space feels and flows.

Jamae’s deep understanding of The Lageret allows her to design with intention, layering florals and greenery in a way that enhances the building’s natural character—highlighting the exposed brick, softening the scale of the space, and drawing the eye exactly where it should go.

It’s a level of cohesion that’s difficult to achieve otherwise—and one that makes the entire experience feel seamless.

The Moments That Matter Most

While every wedding is unique, there are moments that never lose their magic—both in the quiet anticipation and in the behind-the-scenes work that makes everything possible.

For Alison, it’s the quiet anticipation just before the ceremony begins:

“The wedding party filing through the floral studio… everyone is glowing, a little nervous, completely excited. It never gets old.”

For Jamae, it’s something even more consistent:

“It’s not one moment—but countless moments. Alison stays calm under pressure… she tackles every task with a smile.”

It’s in these in-between moments—the ones guests rarely see—that the care and coordination behind each wedding becomes most visible.

What They Want You to Feel

When couples walk into The Lageret, everything is intentional.

Soft seating areas invite conversation. Greenery and florals create warmth and movement. Candlelight reflects off historic brick and wood, creating a space that feels both elevated and deeply comfortable.

But more than anything, Jamae and Alison want couples to feel something deeper.

“We want them to feel calm, welcomed, and completely at home… to take it all in.”

To be present. To settle into the moment. To feel the weight—and the joy—of what they’ve created.

And when the night ends:

“We want them to leave feeling like it was utterly theirs.”

Alison echoes that same hope:

“That they can relax, enjoy the moment, and truly absorb the magic of bringing their people together.”

More Than a Team

At the heart of it all, this isn’t just a working relationship. The Lageret is a family-rooted business—something couples feel in every detail.

It’s a team built on trust, creativity, and genuine friendship.

“We work closely—and that works because we truly like each other.”

But more than anything, Jamae wants couples to feel something deeper.

“To feel calm, welcomed, and completely at home… to take it all in.”

And when the night ends:

“We want them to leave feeling like it was utterly theirs.”

Alison echoes that same hope:

“That they can relax, enjoy the moment, and truly absorb the magic of bringing their people together.”

And maybe, just maybe, that’s the secret behind it all.

The reason it feels effortless.
The reason it feels personal.
The reason it feels like magic.
